🌈 IDAHOBIT 2025 (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia)

Cupidon Togo Network is committed to equality, dignity and inclusion for all.

Every May 17, the world rallies around the world to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, a symbolic date that marks the World Health Organization’s decision to remove homosexuality from its international classification of diseases in 1990. Since then, this day has served as a focal point for raising awareness of the violence and discrimination still faced by LGBTQIA+ people worldwide.

This theme reflects the diversity and richness of LGBTQIA+ communities, from the grassroots to the global level, and celebrates our varied and intersecting origins, identities, and experiences. The 2025 theme highlights the strength and resilience that emerge from our collective solidarity, recognizing the contributions of human rights defenders, LGBTQIA+ civil society groups, allies, and the millions of people in our communities who support human rights and collective liberation. The commitment of the Cupidon Togo Network.

In Togo, LGBTQI+ people continue to face numerous challenges: stigmatization, discrimination, physical and verbal violence, social exclusion, and difficulty accessing essential services.

As a committed community organization, RÉSEAU Cupidon Togo works every day to:

Promote the human rights of LGBTQI+ people;
Provide a space for listening, support, and solidarity;
Build the capacities of community actors;
Advocate for inclusive policies that respect diversity.

Together, let’s make our voices heard.

On this May 17th, we call on everyone—citizens, institutions, organizations, and partners—to join us in saying NO to hatred, NO to violence, and YES to equality, respect, and diversity.
